| Abstract Alternative | This paper investigates the matter of the posthumous name of Ming Emperor Jingtai (1428-57; reigned 1449-57) being changed three times. The result of the research shows that each of the various posthumous names reflected the feelings that each of the emperors who bestowed the posthumous names had toward Emperor Jingtai.
