Abstract Alternative
The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the development of two studies: History of Japanese Economic Thoughts and Jevons’s Economic Thought. Takeo Yamanobe, a famous Japanese entrepreneur, attended Jevons’s lectures at University College, London. Yamanobe had enough basic knowledge of what Jevons taught, because he had studied Amane Nishi’s textbook which had included many disciplines. Jevons is said to have taught orthodox economic theory. However he had taught his students the latest contents which he had struggled at that time. Success of Yamanobe’s innovation is due to Nishi’s textbook and Jevons’ preoccupation with social problems at that time in addition to Yamanobe’s efforts.
