Abstract Alternative | Anne Hunter, an English poet active in the late eighteenth to early nineteenth century, offered her poetry to the composer Franz Joseph Haydn, and their collaboration produced nine songs in English. Here I outline how the two artists met and started to work together, with special reference to their gift-exchange of poetry and music. I also translate their nine songs into Japanese.
