Abstract Alternative | In the first half of this paper, I will focus on the expression, “force alone”, in the moral of “The Wolf and the Sheep” in Isoho Monogatari, and trace the flow from the Steinhöwels Aesop to the Amakusa edition via the Spanish edition, and then to the Japanese orthography text. In the second half of the paper, I will take six stories from the so-called Aesopus Dorpii and confirm that they are a part of the basis of the Amakusa edition. This may help to disprove the urtext theory.
