Abstract Alternative | The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology(MEXT) has decided that all students in elementary school, at the discretion of each school, will learn programming education from 2020. In this paper, we compare the features of 3 programming education packages: Lego’s “educational version mindstorm EV 3”, “WeDo 2.0”, and SONY’s “MESH”, as examples of teaching materials for programming education. And, we examime the points of similarity and difference for programming education using these products. As the aim of this paper is to evaluate programming educational materials and practices corresponding to developmental stages in elementary and junior high school, we found that Lego’s WeDo 2.0 was appropriate for elementary school, mindstorm EV3 for junior high school, and SONYs MESH for both levels.
