Abstract Alternative | As a new trial of elementary school programming education, we took pictures of painted fish on paper with a tablet device and programmed the fish to move as desired. The goal of this practice was to improve “observation and recording” skills, which is a subject objective of Life Science and Science; to develop expressive skills, which is an objective of Arts and Crafts; and to foster computational thinking, which is an objective of programming education. The results of the trial lesson proved that it was developmentally appropriate for the target students, and the studentsʼ motivation and awareness of programming were improved, indicating that the lesson could be positioned as a cross-curricular class.
