This paper proposes the garden tourism plans for Nara and Ehime prefectures under the “Garden tourism registration system” managed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Government of Japan. The proposed plan for Nara prefecture is titled “Tour visiting historic gardens around Mahoroba (the best region of the country)” based on the prefectureʼs advantage that the historic gardens through the 7th to 20th centuries remain preserved in the historic conditions and are open to the public. The title proposed for Ehime prefecture is “Ehime road along which visitors can enjoy castles and gardens.” This makes use of the characteristics of the prefecture where the five large-scale castle sites are arranged to the historic parks and some splendid historic gardens remain in the beautiful landscapes and are open to the public.
