“Tondagawa Disaster record”
The significance of materials related to disaster history, which has been neglected in Japan
history, will be examined. The “Tondagawa Disaster record” is an important historical record of the damage caused by the Great Meiji Flood. This material is significant in that it shows the situation immediately after the disaster and also expresses concretely the situation of river channel blockage. This paper described a transcription and explanatory notes of it to convey these which should be passed down through the generations in the future.
